Annie and the Make Believe at Lulu's Social | Valley Sounds
Annie & The Make Believe is an Australian-English artist known for her heartfelt and catchy songs that blend elements of folk, pop, and alt-country. After nearly a decade in the UK, she made her return to the Australian music scene in 2024 with the single It Got Bad. Collaborating with producer Simon Moro (James Keogh/Vance Joy, Grim Fawkner, Allday) her new music blends folk melodies with pop sensibilities and alt-country elements, ‘Honestly, this is one of those records that’s not pretentious, not trying to reinvent the wheel – simply, it’s a sublime listening experience, wrapping the listeners in nostalgia and epic vibes. We love it!’ Mesmerized UK Since then, Annie and her band (Rhythm guitar: Mel Ricou, Lead guitar: Cam Geeves, Drums: Simon Krambousanos) have been gigging in Melbourne’s vibrant live music scene, recently celebrating the release of the newest single On Repeat. Described as a track that ‘lingers long after the final note, it invites listeners to reflect on their own personal journeys of growth and self-acceptance” Music Crowns. Annie’s musical journey began in the UK, where she debuted her EP Let’s Get Together Again. The EP earned airplay on BBC Radio, including BBC Introducing London, 6Music, and BBC Radio 2, and led to performances at festivals Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival, Camper Calling (BBC Introducing Stage), and Staxonbury.

Illuminate Sydney
Presenting Australia’s first “mentally healthy” songwriting program.
Proudly presented by The Real Songwriters of Melbourne and Listen Up Music.
Following a phenomenal response to its 2024 Melbourne pilot program, Illuminate is set to return to Melbourne and debut in new locations: Sydney and Brisbane.
Illuminate is a groundbreaking event that redefines the songwriting experience. Through collaboration, connection, and practicing positive mental health habits, Illuminate offers a unique opportunity for songwriters to grow, create, and thrive in an inspiring and nurturing environment.
But, Illuminate is not just about the music; it is committed towards fostering positive mental health practices in the music industry.
Throughout the day, participants will take part in curated mental health and artist development workshops, designed to equip them with the tools they need to thrive both in their craft and their lives.
Illuminate welcomes songwriters, topliners and producers of all ages and abilities to be a part of this new and exciting event. Only 30 spots will be available per event.

MOSSROSE supporting Renee Alison's EP Launch
It’s finally happening! Come join me, Renee Alison, for the long planned release party for my debut EP "She Was Buried But Not Gone". The afternoon's folk-based festivities will be hosted at the lovely Bergy Bandroom in Brunswick this May 17th.
I’ll be playing a range of my original songs, many that I’ve never performed live before. With a vibe ranging from sweet and melodic “Thank you for”, to raw and energetic “Watch the sun set again” these songs tell stories of life’s messy highs, lows, joys, losses, mysteries and everything in between.
I will be supported by Jasmine Butera and Moss Rose, two fellow female singer-songwriters who will both bring their own lovely vibes and special something to the afternoon event. Let Jasmine blow you away with her beautiful soulful voice and playful song writing, while Moss Rose will entertain with her whimsical folk melodies and delightful storytelling.

To be held on Saturday 14th September at leading Melbourne music school, Vocal Art Studios. In this pilot event, Illuminate are proud to partner up with Audio Technica and Concord Music Publishing ANZ.

Listen Up Music Songwriting Prize Melbourne Semi Finals
Australia's Largest Live Music Songwriting Competition.
The Songwriting Prize, now in it's 9th year, is Australia's largest live music songwriting competition, and the first with a mental health focus.
Brought to you by award-winning mental health music charity Listen Up Music. After a record-breaking year - receiving 444 artist entries, it’s time to hear the cream of the crop from your region at this Semi Final, one of seven taking place across the country.
The events are especially unique, with the coming together of a community to support artists who will perform their short-listed song on the theme of ‘Acceptance’. You will hear the story behind each song, the songs performed live, and a judging panel will give feedback after each entrant's song.
At the culmination of the evening, the top 2 will progress to the Grand Final and be in with a shot of $50,000 worth of prizes.

Held every first Wednesday of the month, our Open Mics have welcomed hundreds of songwriters to the RSOM Community as they share their originals on the Bergy Bandroom stage.

RSOM’S 10th Birthday Celebrations
RSOM is turning 10 and we want you all to join us and celebrate.
Whether you have been with us across the 10 years or you are yet to be a part of our vibrant community, we all invite all songwriters, producers, creatives and friends in the music industry to join us and celebrate 10 years of the RSOM and our community.
The Real Songwriters of Melbourne is a driving, championing platform for songwriters of all ages, genres, genders, backgrounds and experience levels to be a part of. Creating unique and one-of-a-kind events and programs, RSOM has created an abundance of opportunities for songwriters to share their music to new audiences, connect with like-minded individuals, access and build music industry contacts and resources over the last 10 years.
Founded by emerging female entrepreneur, Jena Marino, the RSOM has grown to become a safe, inclusive and diverse community of songwriters, producers and music creatives. Many songwriters have thrived from the support and resources within RSOM including Abbey Stone, RARIA, Kitty Rae, Miss Emilia, Essie Holt and more.
The RSOM events have proven to have created an abundance of connections and opportunities for songwriters as many have left the RSOM events with new contacts, new collaborative opportunities, new performance opportunities, but most of all, new friends.
Returning to Hotel South Melbourne, tickets to the celebration will include UNLIMITED WOODFIRE PIZZA as well as an opportunity for participants to build their contact list and be a part of their vibrant community.
PLEASE NOTE: Songwriters under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian. Hotel South Melbourne have the right to refuse entry if an underage individual is unaccompanied.
ACCESSIBILITY: Hotel South Melbourne is an accessible venue. Accessible entry, toilets and lift are available at this venue. Should you have any accessibility requirements, please email info@rsom.au.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: If you have any specific dietary requirements, please mention this at the check-out screen. All dietary requirements must be submitted to RSOM at least 4 days prior to the event as per caterer deadline.
PARKING: Free parking available on Clarendon Street and Market Street after 6pm.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: This venue can be reached via public transport. Tram and bus stops are nearby the venue.

Networking Night (GEELONG) // Conversations with the Experts with Cartel Australia
Calling all songwriters, producers and music creatives in GEELONG and the SURF COAST,
RSOM is excited to present their first REGIONAL VICTORIAN Networking Night in no other than the thriving town of Geelong!
If you are a songwriter looking to GROW your opportunities, meet future COLLABORATORS as well as UPSKILL your knowledge of how you can build a SUSTAINABLE songwriting career, then the RSOM is your GATEWAY to GROWTH!
Premiering at Geelong's infamous Eureka Hotel, we welcome everybody to join us at this highly anticipated event.
Joining us on the Industry Panel are Christina and Anthony Agostino, founders of artist and label service agency, Cartel Australia.
Together with RSOM Founder, Jena Marino, they will talk to songwriters about how they can ensure that they are set up and prepared for success in 2024 including expectations around release success and touring.
